Special Educational needs
Praecept tutors are experienced in using a range of techniques and resources to teach children with special educational needs, including;
Our aim is to help to discover each child’s potential, increase their motivation and provide appropriate learning opportunities for them to experience success.
Our personalised approach builds on children’s strengths in a positive way and adapts the learning experience to suit children’s cognitive and sensory needs, as well as their preferred learning style.
Careful assessment identifies emergent skills. We then focus on these using a structured approach to teaching.
Activities are designed to address any underlying problems in perception and understanding through the use of visual, auditory, kinaesthetic, spatial or multi-sensory approaches.
Within the overall structure of the individual educational programme for each child there is also room for free, discovery-based learning and self-selection of topics where appropriate.
We recognise that for some children, targeted intervention will be sufficient for them to overcome their difficulties. However, for other children their condition may be a life-long disability and our aim is to help them build self-confidence and develop effective coping strategies.
